Wu Lei and Zhao Jinmai Confirmed in During the Snowstorm Chinese drama

From a Tennis player in "Nothing But You", which is not yet aired, to a billiard player in his new drama, Wu Lei becoming so sporty in his acting project choices. 

Yes, Wu Lei has a new drama! And we heard they already began filming in Finland since January 29, 2023. They will also film part of the series in France. Wow!

The title is "During the Snowstorm", which is based on the same novel written by Mo Bao Fei Bao, the same author of Chinese drama, Scarlet Heart (2011) and Go Go Squid (2017). And will be directed by Taiwanese director, Tien Jen Huang. 

Wu Lei will be paired with Zhao Jinmai or Angel Zhao for this drama. Angel rose to popularity when she starred last year in the hit drama, RESET, opposite Bai Jingting.

Zhao Jinmai is still pretty young, only 20 years old. She was born on September 29, 2002. While Wu Lei was born on December 26, 1999.

During the Snowstorm is a sports romance drama and Wu Lei will be playing the role of a billiard (snooker to be specific) player. No wonder his studio page on weibo posted a clip on January 30 showing him playing billiard 😄

Wu Lei was spotted in Beijing International airport on January 24, 2023, leaving for Helsinki, the capital of Finland. They need to be in Finland to shoot the scene of the terrible snowstorm because Finland is the only country in the world that has the longest winter season. And January is their coldest period. 

During the Snowstorm is the first Chinese drama to be filmed abroad in recent years. It's so rare to hear Chinese dramas being filmed outside mainland China but it's necessary for the story because the characters met during the snowstorm in New York City.

Here's the plot summary from My Drama List:

Yin Guo (played by Zhao Jinmai), a professional nine-ball player, meets Lin Yi Yang (Wu Lei) a former snooker (specific category of the billiard sports) player during the snowstorm/blizzard in New York City. 

After getting along, she realizes that Lin Yi Yang shares her passion in the billiard sports. Some years ago, Lin Yi Yang played actively in the billiard scene however during one match he disagreed with the call of the referee.

They had an argument until Lin Yi Yang accidentally knocking off the referee which led to his suspension from the sports. He left the billiard scene for more than ten years and went abroad.

But he has never given up billiards. And when he meets Yin Guo, he falls in love with her at first sight.  He starts pursuing her and decided to return to the billiard arena to fulfill his dream he neglected many years ago.

Let's wait for the official announcement from Wu Lei's studio page on weibo. Angel Zhao also has not posted anything on her weibo regarding this new drama but there are photos of them filming in Finland that already leaked in the web.

But we're hoping Wu Lei will make another historical series that would showcase his skills in martial arts. He is so good in wuxia drama! 

He has two movies to be shown this year (already done filming last year): Worthy Trip with Hu Ge and Dwelling by the West Lake.
