Congratulations to Michelle Yeoh! She made history as the first Asian woman ever to win an Oscar Award for Best Actress. This is such an awesome milestone!

Michelle Yeoh won the Academy Award best actress accolade for her portrayal in the action comedy film, Everything Everywhere All at Once.

She portrayed the role of Evelyn Quan Wang, a dissatisfied and overwhelmed laundromat owner; and as several other versions of Evelyn in alternate universes. 

Michelle Yeoh, who was born in Perak, Malaysia in 1962, and who represented Malaysia in the 1983 Miss World, beat out Cate Blanchett (Tár), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans), Ana de Armas (Blonde), and Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) in the Best Actress category.

Part of her acceptance speech: "“For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that dreams do come true,” Yeoh said in her speech, receiving cheers in response. “And ladies, don’t let anyone tell you that you are past your prime.”

Michelle also starred in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). directed by Taiwanese filmmaker, Ang Lee, which won Best Foreign Film at the Oscars in 2000.

Ke Huy Quan Everything Everywhere All at Once

Michelle's co-star, Jonathan Ke Huy Quan, who portrayed Waymond Wang, Evelyn's meek husband, also won Best Supporting Actor. He is a Vietnamese-born American actor of Chinese descent.

Jonathan was so emotional in the acceptance speech that he declared "This is an American Dream"!

Everything, Everywhere All At Once emerged as the biggest winner of this year's Academy Awards. Winning Best Picture, Best Director(s), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.

The movie is written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known professionally as the Daniels. 

Everything, Everywhere All at Once talks about the eccentric tale of a Chinese immigrant family in America. 

It centers on Evelyn Wang, a Chinese immigrant who, while being audited by the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), discovers that she must connect with the parallel universe versions of herself to prevent a powerful being from destroying the multiverse. 

The movie has a mix of kung fu stunts and a really hilarious fight scenes and adventure of Michelle's varied characters.

Apart from the Academy Awards, Michelle also won the same award at the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild for her portrayal as Evelyn Wang.

Michelle Yeoh began her acting career in Hongkong, acting alongside Jacky Chan. She is fluent in Hongkong Cantonese language. She rose to global popularity when she starred with Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies.
