Youku finally aired the much-awaited modern romance Chinese drama, South Wind Knows My Mood, renamed South Wind Knows, on September 12. It has been on their inventory list since 2021 so followers of Cheng Yi, who can't get enough of him since the airing of Mysterious Lotus Casebook ended, got excited.

South Wind Knows is actually Cheng Yi's first and only full-length modern romance series he did in his acting career, all his drama projects for the web and television are in the costume/martial arts genre so fans who have been waiting to see him in the modern mainstream romantic series feel enthusiastic.

South Wind Knows tells the story of a Botanist, Fu Yunshen (Cheng Yi), a scion of a wealthy family who owns a pharmaceutical company. He embarks on a mission to a remote village in a tropical country in search of medicinal plants that can cure widespread diseases.

During his journey, he stumbles on Zhu Jiu, a doctor who happens to embark also in a humanitarian mission to the same remote village. They clash at first but later on falls in love.
