Towards the end of November this year, the organizers of the Pop Golden Awards announced that the physical awarding ceremony, which was originally slated for November 25, 2023, wouldn't be pursued anymore because most of the awardees are not available to come to the actual venue in Los Angeles, California.

The organizers decided to scrap the physical awarding ceremony and conducted it virtually on December 8, 2023. It was aired live from their studio in Los Angeles.

The Pop Golden Awards is an international accolade honoring influential figures across pop industries worldwide. This vibrant event celebrates the diverse impact of pop culture, celebrating artists and icons whose creativity transcends borders and languages.

The Pop Golden Awards highlight artists and entertainers who wield a global influence through their craft. Acknowledging and honoring thriving industries that often transcend geographical boundaries, yet need to be more acknowledged internationally.  

The manner of selection of nominees and winners is based on fan votes so this is basically a popularity award, a fan-driven honor where fans have the power to choose and vote for their favorite music artists and drama stars.

These fan votes are tallied and combined with the input of the Pop Golden Awards’ judging panel. The artist or nominee with the highest composite score from public fan votes and the judge’s input will be declared the winner.

The larger the fan base of music artists and drama stars, the bigger the chances of winning as fan votes largely influenced the scores of the nominees, thus, most winners are celebrities who have the most active and dedicated fans ready to go out of their way to campaign and vote for their favorites to win the award. 

As you can see in the list of winners, it's so rare for Hollywood or other Westerners (even how talented and iconic they are) to nab an award since fans of most Western stars are not active online or do not have the penchant to hang out online. 

In great contrast, Asian Drama stars, especially Korean and Chinese, have dedicated fans who utilize the internet as their hang-out, chasing their favorite idols, engaging online, and spreading words about their favorite Asian celebrities. No wonder, most winners in major categories are popular K-drama, K-pop, and C-drama stars who have a large fan base.

About Pedro Pascal

At least fans chose the right person to win the Golden Actor of the Year award. Pedro Pascal is a Chilean-American actor who has been known for playing remarkable roles in many American films and television series. 

He rose to prominence portraying Oberyn Martell also known as the Red Viper in the 4th season of Game of Thrones (2014), Narcos (Netflix 2015-2017), The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2022), and The Book of Boba Fett (2022).

He has played Joel Miller in the HBO drama, The Last of Us (2023) for which he received a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. 

His other recognized roles are in the following films: The Great Wall (2016, directed by the legendary Chinese filmmaker, Zhang Yimou), Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), The Equalizer 2 (2018), Triple Frontier (2019), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022).
