Deep Lurk, Cheng Yi's Only Republican era Drama, Has Been Broadcast

It's been four years since Deep Lurk wrapped up filming in May 2020, and finally today, November 13, 2024, CCTV-8, China's national broadcaster. and the iQIYI streaming platform, released the drama. 

Deep Lurk began filming in November 2019, two months after Cheng Yi wrapped up filming Love and Redemption, but the shooting got delayed due to the pandemic, and they finally finished filming in May 2020. 

It's refreshing to watch Cheng Yi in a different drama genre. We're used to watching him in an ancient costume drama with long hair and flowing white robes, and now finally it's a different atmosphere! This is the only time that we can watch him holding guns haha! And in normal attire, because his upcoming series are in the costume genre. 

Just watched the first two episodes of Deep Lurk and it leaves a good impression. I like the spy vibe and the suspense element. It's pretty exciting and intriguing. It's fast-paced and the transition of scenes are quick, we need to pay attention to catch up with what's going on.

It's also nice to know that Cheng Yi personally dubbed his character. It's good to hear his real voice, it's clear and smooth. But Cheng Yi is really doing his own dubbing in most of his characters in the drama. He knows how to modulate his voice.

Deep Lurk is a Republican era spy thriller drama and the story is set before the events in the Battle of Changsha, so this is an action drama with an element of suspense. 

Will definitely continue watching this. I like the plot of suspense and spy so this is a drama for me, and it's been a year since watching Cheng Yi in a drama, thought we would never see him a series this year because his Hero Legends has been postponed, good that the production decided to release it this year.
