The Popularity of C-Drama Blossom Surprises Fans and Drama Critics

 In recent years, the drama (especially in the costume genre) that usually catches the attention of fans immediately and becomes ultra-popular during its broadcast are those starred by traffic stars because they have the largest dedicated fan base who will do everything to spread awareness about the drama.

But this December, Blossom surprised drama fans when it became an instant hit and dominated the ranking board of many digital ranking and popularity platforms. It even peaked at 30000 popularity heat index on Tencent which is the measurement of drama's popularity explosion. Blossom is not starred by traffic and popular mainland stars so it emerged as the dark horse for December. And it is competing on air with dramas from popular and veteran stars.

Blossom is a costume drama starring Meng Ziyi and Li Yunrui. Two C-drama stars who don't have enough popularity data to bankroll a drama hit, but they made it! They surprised fans with their explosive on-screen chemistry and beautiful rapport in every scene. In other words, they jelled so well, that the drama is fascinating to watch in every episode.

Before Blossom, Meng Ziyi and Li Yunrui starred together in the 2023 adventure drama, Parallel World with Bai Yu and Ni Ni, but they did not play a couple there. Li Yunrui was paired with Xie Meng there. But I was not surprised to see Li Yunrui deliver so well in his role as Song Mo. I first watched him in the epic movie, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storm where he played one of the hostage sons of the Shang emperor. And he delivered so well in that movie. He also had an actual six-month training in archery, equestrian, and sword fighting with the cast of Creation of the Gods I, so no wonder he is so fitted to play the role of General Song Mo. 

In general, Blossom is a story of second chances and revenge, and trying to make things right for the second time to prevent the disasters and heartbreaks in the past from occurring in the prevent. After they were all killed in the past life, Dou Zhao (Meng Ziyi) was reborn to change her fate and those around her and to correct the mistakes of the past, so that they will all survive. 

So far, she has been able to alter her fate and other events through her smartness, sharp thinking, better judgment, resilience, courage, and bravery. So we are looking forward if she can successfully change the events of the past and live a happy life with her husband, Song Mo.

Blossom is a well-written drama with the main characters, Dou Zhao and Song Mo, as smart, brave, intelligent, and a sweet couple. The best on-screen couple characters in 2024 in a costume c-drama.
