K-Drama Review: Fight For My Way Summary and Review

Fight For My Way is a South Korean television romance-comedy series that aired in 2017 starring Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won, and has 16 episodes.

Synopsis:

Fight For My Way is a story of personal struggle, failures, and people with big dreams. Park Seo-joon plays Kong Do Man, a former Taekwondo champion who made a terrible mistake when he "sold" his last fight to finance the hospitalization of his sister.

Defeated, Kong Do Man finds himself being distrusted by sponsors and needs to find another way to make a living. He trains to become a martial artist but in between his training and family struggles lies his unresolved guilt and eroding self-confidence.

He lives in a rented apartment where his direct neighbor is his best friend, Choi Ae-ra (Kim Ji-won), who has her own personal struggle to resolve.

While working in a department store as a receptionist, she has big dreams she nourishes, she wanted to become a successful announcer. But she often receives bullying from rude people who belittled her potential.

Kong Do Man and Choi Ae-ra are drawn with their common plight that they often encourage each other to excel. And while giving each other's moral support, they slowly fall in love.

Review:

I love the concept of slow-burnt romance, characters who are not attracted at first with each other, but later realized how much they cared for each other, a friends-turn-to-lovers plot, and a romance-comedy that has a consistent plot.

And exactly, I find all those elements in "Fight For My Way". In fact, I have not appreciated any romantic drama in recent years as much as I appreciated Fight For My Way.

Kim Ji-won and Park Seo-joon

I love all the episodes, all the scenes, and the strong chemistry between Park Seo-Joon and Kim Ji-won. They're two amazing individuals who are doing incredible things on-screen portraying as supportive friends who later fall in love.

The way they run to each other when life hits them big is just so heartwarming. It thought me to view life in a lighter way and in a sweeter way.

Everything about this K-drama is just so beautiful and sweet. The OST, the simple retelling of events, the second leads, the rapport of the main leads. Just so perfect.

I love how the characters of Park Seo-Joon and Kim Ji-won interacted here. Not overrated. Not overacting. Just the right amount of eliciting giggles and sweetness. Like the classic story of romance that is never grows old.

Casts of Fight For My Way

Kong Do Man and Choi Ae-ra are two characters to whom everyone can relate. Their struggle to make their dreams come true, their unconditional support towards each other.

The progress of their relationship from friends to lovers, is just so sweet and not exaggerated. It feels like we're just relaxing at home. Stress-free and just good vibes.

From the first episode until the finale. Everything is so smooth, so warm, and romantic. And so surprising to hear this is Kim Ji-won's first leading role. She did not disappoint! She did things incredibly. She and Park Seo-Joon are perfect pair.

Hope they can reunite again in another drama.
