Song Hye Kyo's New Drama Reunites Her With Descendants of The Sun's Writer

Song Hye-kyo has a new drama, "The Glory", and casting has been finalized! She will be paired with Lee Do Hyun in this drama, which will be streamed on NetFlix.

Writer of The Glory is Kim Eun Sook, the same writer of Song Hye-kyo's drama hit. Descendants of the Sun, where she starred with her ex-husband, Song Joong-ki. 

Kim Eun Sook's other famous works are Goblin, Heirs, and Secret Garden. The Glory tells the story of a former victim of violence in school who exacts revenge on the perpetrators after she becomes an elementary school teacher.

Plot summary:

The Glory is a story of revenge. A high school student, Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye-kyo), has dreamed of becoming an architect but had to drop out of school after suffering from brutal school violence. 

Years later, the perpetrator, Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) got married and has a kid. Her child attends elementary school where the classroom teacher is Moon Dong Eun.

Moon Dong Eun starts her revenge on those who have wronged her in the past, including the bystanders who did not do anything to help her when she was bullied.

Song Hye-kyo will play the role of Moon Dong Eun, a victim of bullying in her school days, who has spent her entire life plotting revenge against those who bullied her, and the bystanders who did not do anything to help her.

Lee Do Hyun

The male lead. Lee Do Hyun, will play the role of Joo Yeo Jung, who appears happy and cheerful on the outside, but is hiding a complicated secret.

Lim Ji Yeon will play Park Yeon Jin, the leader of the bullies who made Moon Dong Eun's life miserable during their school days. 

She seemingly enjoys a beautiful life until her dark past comes back to haunt her. She is expected to fight to protect what are dear to her.

Yeom Hye Ran is set to portray the role of Kang Hyun Nam, a domestic violence victim and a fiercely protective mother who approaches Moon Dong Eun with a proposal.

Park Sung Hoon plays the role of Jeon Jae Joon, who comes from a wealthy family. He partnered with Park Yeon Jin in bullying and destroying Moon Dong Eun in the past. 

Jung Sung Il will play Ha Do Young, the husband of Park Yeon Jin, and the CEO of a major construction company. When he falls into a carefully constructed trap set by Moon Dong Eun, he unexpectedly puts his family’s happiness in danger.

“The Glory” will be released on Netflix and set to be streamed in 2023

After Descendants of the Sun in 2016, Song Hye-kyo only did two dramas: Encounter (2018), and Now We are Breaking Up (2021), both did not do well in viewership ratings and critics' verdict. 

Many K-drama fans expressed high hopes that The Glory can help bring back the spark in Song Hye-kyo's career. Meanwhile, she's busy with brand endorsement lately, being the brand ambassadors for global luxury brands such as Fendi and Chaumet.

Lee Do Hyun starred in 2021 K-drama hits: Beyond Evil, Youth of May, and Melancholia, and in 2020 18 Again and Sweet Home.
