We have gathered 10 of the highly-rated Asian drama for the first half of 2022. We have also included the on-going series aired this month, July. 

We have based this list on the viewers ratings in My Drama List and Rakuten Viki because they've the large size of votes. 

For dramas that are not available on Rakuten Viki, we based the ratings in IMDB, a popular rating and review site.

We wanted to include TV series from Thailand, unfortunately none ever reached a rating of 8.5 and above, either in My Drama List, IMDB or Rakuten Viki. So, we only have C-Drama and K-Drama list here.

Reset, a story about time loop, remains the highly-rated Asian drama this year.

Li Shi Qing (played by Zhao Jin Mai) is a university student who hops on a bus one mid-morning to buy a book in a bookstore across the bridge in Jialin city. 

The bus that passes through her route is the no.45 which she regularly boarded during school days, thus, already acquainted with the driver, Wang Xing De (Huang Jue).

When they reach the traffic lane, Wang Xing De tries to avoid a delivery rider who suddenly cuts in the street, prompting him to lose control. 

The bus collided with the approaching oil tanker and exploded. The scene implies that all the people who boarded the bus have died during the explosion.

To Li Shi Qing's surprise, she wakes up on the same bus with the same people. And things look normal, the passengers are quietly seated, and the environment is still the same, but she notices that they are heading once again to the same traffic lane where they collide with the delivery rider.

This incident keeps repeating and each time they head to the explosion part, Shi Qing would wake up, feeling dizzy. 

Going through the same routine, boarding the same bus, and dying in the same accident, Shi Qing soon realizes she is trapped in a never-ending time loop. 

Desperate to find a way to escape, not only the loop but her tragic fate, Shi Qing inadvertently drags fellow bus passenger, Xiao He Yun (played by Bai Jing Ting), into the loop with her. And by doing so, He Yun also drags into the time loop. Together, they must find ways to solve the puzzle of the explosion, figure out who is the culprit, and save the other passengers.

Kook Young Soo (Jin Seon Kyu) is the team leader of the Criminal Behavioral Analysis Team, and he acts as a headman of the National Forensic Service, who knows what true authority is. 

He realizes the importance of criminal psychology from the beginning, and therefore, he establishes the Criminal Behavioral Analysis Team with Ha Young.

Cha Young Min (played by Rain) is an extremely arrogant but gifted thoracic surgeon. He is aloof but extremely talented in his field.

His polar opposite is a resident surgeon named Go Seung Tak (Kim Bum) – a man who has risen to a lofty place in the medical world due only to the fact that his grandfather happens to be the founder of one of the country’s top hospitals.

But when a strange medical case takes an unexpected turn, Cha Young Min’s spirit somehow possesses Go Seung Tak’s body – suddenly gifting the latter with extraordinary medical skills. 

All of a sudden, Go Seung Tak finds himself the talk of the medical town. But a young emergency room intern named Oh Soo Jung (Son Na Eun) thinks she can sense the fact that something is wrong.

The young painter Shen Yi (played by Tan Jian Ci) resigned from the Academy of Fine Arts and entered Haicheng Public Security Bureau mysteriously. 

Interpol Captain Du Cheng (played by Jin Shi Jia) was furious and said that he would never accept those who caused his comrade to be killed in the police force. 

Five years ago, Shen Yi, who was still a student, was sketching on the street. A man took a picture of a child and asked him to draw what the child would look like as an adult. 

However, this painting caused Haicheng detective Lei Yi Fei to be exposed as an undercover agent and he was killed. And Lei Yi Fei happened to be Du Cheng's long-time friend and confidant. 

The strange thing is that, no matter how hard Shen Yi tried of recall for a few years, he couldn't draw the face of the man who asked him to paint the child's photo. 

In order to find out the truth, Shen Yi accepted the invitation of Director Zhang of the Public Security Bureau and became a portraitist of the Interpol Team. 

Under Zhang Ju’s persuasion and arrangement, Du Cheng had to accept that he became a colleague with Shen Yi, but he was still full of annoyance and despised Shen Yi’s “drawing to solve cases,” and the two became the “ticking bomb” in the team. 

However, in several collaborations, Shen Yi has repeatedly cracked the "dead end" of cases with his "three-year-old painting", "drawing based on audio," "micro-color discrimination" and other stunts, which slowly started to impress Du Cheng. 

More importantly, the truth of Lei Yi Fei's death is still buried in Shen Yi's memory. On the way to find out the truth of Lei Yi Fei's life and death, the two people who were pursuing alone gradually untie their knots and rely on each other.

She is forced to attend to his ailing health and all of a sudden is forced to say goodbye to the job she was hoping to take. To compound the misery, she also splits up with her boyfriend.

But when she starts to feel sorry for herself, she meets Gu Wei (Xiao Zhan), the doctor who takes charge of treating her father.

The South Korean financial crisis also causes Baek Yi Jin’s (Nam Joo Hyuk) father's business to go bankrupt. This leads to a life change for Baek Yi Jin, from living the life of a wealthy person to a poor person.

With a name that means “happiness”, one might suspect that He Xing Fu’s (Zhao Li Ying)  life would be full of nothing but joy. Unfortunately, Xing Fu’s life was filled with several ups and downs that brought many moments of sorrows. 

Even at her wedding, which should have been one of the happiest days of her life, Xing Fu was forced to deal with a fair amount of mortification after her sister, He Xing Yun (Zhang Ke Ying) suffered an unexpected humiliation. 

To make matters worse, the village chief’s son, Wan Chuan Jia (Cao Zheng) was injured which won her no favors with the village chief, Wan Shan Tang (Liu Wei).

Despite the unexpected mayhem at her wedding, Xing Fu settled happily into her new life with her husband, Wang Qing Lai (Tang Zeng). 

Sadly, their happiness was soon disrupted after a new health care product factory moved to town and almost immediately requisitioned her in-law’s land. 

Refusing to give up the land without a fight, Xing Fu decides to team up with Shang Tang to take the factory owners to court. 

Unfortunately, things don’t work out in their favor. Ultimately forced into the city to find work, Xing Fu does the best she can but the struggles of city life prove too much for this small-town woman.

Tomorrow Korean Drama 2022

Tomorrow revolves around a group of Grim Reapers who are entrusted with the task of saving suicidal humans and have to prove to them how important life really is. 

The drama stars Kim Hee Sun as Goo Ryeon, Yun Jin On as Lim Ryung Gu playing Grim Reapers who will prevent people from committing suicide. 

Choi Joon Woong (Ro-woon), a rather miserable man, seeks a job, but has a hard time getting hired. One night, he witnesses a man trying to end his life and decides to stop him, but he ends up falling. 

While he goes into coma, he roams around as a literally lost soul and gets acquainted with the Grim Reapers. Consequently, Joon Woong is employed by a company of grim reapers as the newest member of the crisis management team.

Ryeon comes to take his soul but she can’t, because in a fun twist, she has to claim responsibility for him, as she has a part to play in his current condition. And so, begins a series of unexpected adventures as the trio of Grim Reapers. (Source: Indian Express)
