Yang Mi, Zhao Liying, and Angelababy. Three of C-Drama's highly-acclaimed actresses, both successful in television and films, are extremely popular in China and the three most-followed Chinese celebrities on weibo, China's popular social networking site similar to Facebook and Twitter.
However, despite having everything, beauty, well, and a successful career in the Chinese entertainment industry, their respective marriages were not as lucky as their career status.
Yang Mi and Hawick Lau
Beijing-born Yang Mi, who began her acting career when she was only four years old, fell in love with Hongkong actor, Hawick Lau, in 2011, while they were filming "Ru Yi", a television drama, and romantic comedy film, "Holding Love".Â

Hawick, who is 12 years older than Yang Mi, is a Hongkong-born actor and singer whose father is also an actor. He studied architecture at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada before he entered the entertainment industry in 1995.
In 2012, Yang Mi revealed her relationship with Hawick Lau on her weibo. A year later, in November 2013, they announced their engagement. Followed by a lavish wedding held in Bali, Indonesia in January 2014.

However, within two years, rumors began circulating that their marriage was not all sweetness. Speculations of why their marriage bit the dust ranged from unequal celebrity status between the couple as Yang Mi is more popular than her husband.Â
In addition, Yang Mi would not settle as merely a housewife and would still want to continue her acting career, which reportedly did not set well with Hawick. And there were infidelity rumors also on Hawick's side.
On December 22, 2018, just two weeks before their fifth wedding anniversary, sadly, the celebrity couple finally announced their divorce through Jaywalk Studio. The couple shared custody of their only child, named Naomi Lau.Â
Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming
Unlike Yang Mi and Hawick Lau, the stars of this celebrity couple equally shine the brightest. They are both popular, naturally, their romance was one of the most followed among Chinese celebrities.
He also starred in a number of successful television series: The Prince of Han Dynasty, The Return of the Condor Heroes, Nirvana in Fire season 2, and Winter Begonia.
Just like Yang Mi and Hawick Lau, Angelababy is 12 years younger than Huang Xiaoming. Their romance began in 2009 but was kept hidden from the public. And for six years, they were the subject of romance rumors but neither party would admit the real status of their relationship.
In January 2017, Angelababy gave birth to their eldest child, a son, in Hongkong. But just like most high-profile marriages, their union was under constant scrutiny by the public. And dark clouds began to appear in their marriage when fans began to notice strange occurrences in their relationship.
Fans noticed Angelababy's frequent solo trips with her sons, she no longer wore her million-dollar engagement ring, and she left Mountain Top talent agency that Huang Xiaoming partly co-managed.
Finally, in January 2022, the couple announced their divorce through their weibo posts. Their announcement came as a shock and many of their fans were saddened that the union was over.
Zhao Liying and Feng Shaofeng
Zhao Liying is another popular Chinese celebrity who had a high-profile romance with her fellow C-drama star, Feng Shaofeng, 11 years her senior. They first met while filming "The Monkey King 3" (movie) in 2016, and the critically-acclaimed drama, "The Story of Minglan", which was aired in 2018.
For a year, they've been the subject of intrigues, with many drama fans speculating they were into a real-life romance. But their respective representatives consistently denied the rumors even though there were pictures of them together.
Finally, on October 16, 2018, on the occasion of Zhao Liying's 31st birthday, they announced their marriage and shared a photo of them holding their marriage certificate. Zhao Liying gave birth to a son in March 2019.Â
They were both spotted in Sanya, China's popular beach resort, in February 2021. But on April 23, 2021, the couple officially confirmed their divorce.Â
So what happened? What made the union go down the drain in such a short period of time?
A media representative of Feng Shaofeng cited their busy schedules as the main reason for their growing apart in marriage.Â
It's always sad to hear about broken marriages, especially in showbiz, but couples have their personal reasons.Â
