Lee Ji Han was filming an MBC drama, The Season of Kkokdu" as a second male lead at the time of his death. The filming of the drama has been put on hold following his sudden death to give way to a period of mourning.
The drama has a literal title of “Kkokdu’s Gye Jeol”. Prior to this update, the production and management of the show were looking for another Korean actor to replace Lee Ji Han in the drama. It is also believed that the drama will reshoot the scenes already filmed by Lee Ji Han.
As reported by Soompi, on November 7, a source from MBC said that The Season of Kkokdu has resumed filming and later announced that Lee Jung Jun will take over the role left by Lee Ji Han.
The Season of Kkokdu is a fantasy romance drama that follows a story of a grim reaper named Kkokdu (to be portrayed by Kim Jung Hyun) who comes down to earth to punish humans every 99 years.
Kkokdu meets Han Gye Jeol (to be played by Im Soo Hyang), a doctor with mysterious abilities, and starts working as a visiting doctor. Lee Ji Han, who already filmed part of the drama weeks before the Itaewon tragedy, was playing the role of Jung Yi Deun, the ex-boyfriend of Han Gye Jeol.
Lee Jung Jun, 23, will take over the role of Jung Yi Deun as filming resumes. He made his acting debut in “Queen for Seven Days” (2017) and currently starring in the SBS drama “Cheer Up.”
Rest in Peace Lee Ji Han |
Our condolences to the family of Lee Ji Han and all those who died in the Itaewon crowd crush. May their souls rest in eternal peace.
Authorities also corrected that what happened at Itaewon Halloween party in Seoul, South Korea, was not a stampede but a crowd crush, a situation where people could not breathe and move due to the overflowing crowd cramming in a very small space.
