Happy Valentine's Day! 10 Upcoming C-Drama Released Romantic Posters

 

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Productions and networks of some upcoming Chinese television and web dramas released romantic posters of the main leads to give us all the feels of a sweet romance on this day of hearts. 

Which of these dramas are you most looking forward to? Some of these romantic films (ancient costume and contemporary themes) will be airing soon.

Check the following for your drama watch list. We arranged the titles alphabetically:

1. Falling In Love - Genre: Modern Youth Romance. Broadcast network: Youku. Also known as Everyone Loves Me, this is quite cute if you love sweet youth romance series.

This drama tells the story of two gamers, Yue Qian Ling and Gu Xun. Qian Ling (Zhou Ye) has been crushing Gu Xun (Lin Yi) for a long time. One day, she mustered enough courage to finally tell him. Only to be rejected. 

Heartbroken, Yue Qian Ling vented her frustration in the online game, something that was noticed by her online gaming friend (who is actually Gu Xun). 

He was secretly happy to learn that her gaming friend was rejected by her crush because he also kept a feeling for her even though they still had not met in person. And puff! What a coincidence! Qian Ling was actually the girl he rejected earlier in the day. haha!

2. Filter - This is a modern fantasy drama and has a science-fiction feel. Broadcast network: Tencent. What makes this one a bit exciting is the fact that Tong Hua writes the script.

Although I am apprehensive about Tong Hua's style of writing (she is the writer of the novels sources of Scarlet Heart, Sound of the Desert, and Lost You Forever) as most of her novels are sad and heartbreaking, Filter looks different because this is an original screenplay and not based on her books.

It tells the story of Tang Qi (Tan Jianci) and Su Chengcheng (Li Landi) who are drawn to each other after a mysterious high-tech product (supposed to be a bracelet) alters Chengcheng's face. Tang Qi uncovers the mystery of her identity. 

3. Love Has Fireworks - This drama sounds like the hit K-drama, Full House (2004),  whose main characters share a house/apartment due to circumstances and can't get along. So there is an element of enemies to lovers in the story. Broadcast network: Tencent.

Love Has Fireworks follows Qian Fei (Wang Churan), an investment bank employee who was dumped by her fiance, so all the dreams and life plans she built with this guy went down the drain. 

While fixing her finances and starting anew, she decided to allow the other room in her apartment to be rented to help her repay the mortgage of the property.

The renter is Li Yifei, a wealthy second-generation guy. Since then they started a shared life in her apartment. Troubles come in as they cannot get along while living in the same space.

4. Offering Fish - There's no English title shared yet for this drama but this is based on the xianxia novel, Offering Salted Fish to Master. In Cantonese, a salted fish is a metaphor for a corpse, but can now mean people who have no intention of doing anything. Broadcast network: Youku.

After being sealed in the mountains for five hundred years, Sima Jiao (Chen Feiyu), the founder of the Gengchen Immortal Mansion, met Liao Tingyan (Wang Yinglu), who accidentally came to the world of immortality, and was overcome by his "salted fish" instinct of wanting nothing. 

From then on, Liao Tingyan began to guide Sima Jiao to be good step by step and became the person who changed him. In the process, they fell in love and experienced a love-hate entanglement spanning three lives in the fairy palace, the demon realm, and the human world. 

5. Reblooming Blue - modern drama/business/rural setting. Broadcast: Mango TV/Hunan TV. The story follows Chen Xiao Man (Victoria Song) who has been working hard in the city to save enough so that she can invest a share in her family's porcelain business. Unfortunately, she becomes unemployed and has no choice but to return to her hometown.

At this time, Chen Xiao Man's superior, Ke Yan (Vic Chou), also encounters an unprecedented setback. Hoping to turn things around, he has come to Chen Xiao Man's hometown to seek the help of a legendary figure in the investment community. 

This leads to a reunion between Chen Xiao Man and Ke Yan. Under his guidance and encouragement, she decided to embark on the road of entrepreneurship.

6. Shadow - Period fantasy drama. Broadcast network: Tencent. This vampire theme is never heard in a Chinese drama so we are tentative if this would be given a go signal for broadcast.

During the Republic Era of China, Shen Zhi Heng (Vengo Gao), a famous vampire, was almost assassinated by a group of masked soldiers. He was saved by the blind girl, Mi Lan (Ouyang Nana). 

After he was saved, he went to Mi Lan's family to repay her kindness. He discovered that Mi Lan's family situation was in a difficult situation, so he became more concerned about Mi Lan. 

After the failed assassination attempt, the cunning Li Ying Liang, the director of the military operations department who really hates Shen Zhi Heng, vows to find out the secrets of Shen Zhi Heng and kill him.

7. Spring Love - This is a modern romance in a rural setting that has a healing theme, similar to Meet Yourself in 2023 where Li Xian also starred. Broadcast network: Tencent.

Chen Mai Dong (Li Xian), a rebellious youth who was reformed after experiencing a life-changing event. He then chose to become a funeral makeup artist. 

Zhuang Jie (Zhou Yutong) had a successful career in the big city but after she suffered a car accident and became disabled, she returned to the province for some physical and emotional healing. There. she meets Chen Mai Dong.

8. White Olive Tree - Genre: Modern romance drama. Broadcast network: iQIYI. The story follows Song Ran (Liang Jie), a female reporter from Liangcheng Satellite TV and Li Zan (Chen Zheyuan), a Chinese explosive engineer who volunteered in the East Country where Song Ran has a reporting assignment.

After multiple interactions, Li Zan discovered that despite appearing weak on the outside, Song Ran was brave, strong, and full of kindness. 

A sudden bombing attack ended their budding relationship. They lost contact after they returned to China. But one circumstance brought them back together.  

9. The Princess Royal - Genre: Ancient costume. Broadcast network: Youku. The story follows Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai) and Pei Wen Xuan (Zhang Linghe) who married for political reasons. Pei Wen Xuan used Li Rong’s identity as a Grand Princess to advance himself.

Their loveless marriage allowed them to do whatever they wanted without bothering to care for each other. Then one day, someone plotted a scheme implicating them. And they died. 

However, they woke up and returned to the year they got married, the most challenging times of their lives. Pei Wen Xuan went out to look for Li Rong again to marry.

10. Thousand Fragrances - Genre: Costume. Broadcast network: Youku. This is the second drama collaboration of Song Weilong and Ju Jingyi after starring together in A Class of Her Own, also a costume drama aired in 2020.

Xiao Bang Chui (Ju Jingyi), an orphan from Qingqiu, enrolled in the Young Phoenix Academy to study. There, she befriended students from the academy and together they formed a tight bond. 

When the group went their separate ways, only the sly and clever Lei Xiu Yuan (Song Weilong) stayed by her side. But due to some circumstances, they got separated. 

Five years later, Xiao Bang Chui became known as Jiang Li Fei who is totally a different personality from Xiao Bang Chu. She became a woman of otherworldly beauty. But the people around her became curious and they began tracing her roots and origin.
