Thai Drama Couple, Nadech Kugimiya and Yaya Sperbund, Visit The Philippines

On December 4, 2022, Sunday, Thai drama real-life couple, Nadech Kugimiya and Urassaya "Yaya" Sperbund, visited Manila, Philippines for their first live audience with the local fans.

To immerse in Filipino culture, the celebrity couple wore local costumes - "barong Tagalog" (for male) and Terno or Filipiniana dress (for female, although Yaya's piece is a modern version 😂) during the live meet-up at New Frontier Theater, Araneta, Cubao, Quezon City.

The couple delighted fans when they performed local music on stage, with Yaya belting "Ikaw" (You) as if serenading her boyfriend, Nadech.

Local fans have been anticipating this meet-up with Nadech and Yaya for years. In 2020, it was planned but was canceled due to the pandemic.

Nadech Kugimiya and Yaya Sperbund are popular with Filipino drama fans since the airing of The Crown Princess in 2018 on local television. The Crown Princess starred Nadech and Yaya.

The success of The Crown Princess in the Philippines gave way to the popularity of Thai series on local television. Today, Thai dramas are competing with K-Drama and C-drama on Philippine television.

Filipinos love the authenticity of the Thai drama plot because it is closer to Filipino culture. Thailand and the Philippines are both parts of the Southeast Asian region so the two cultures share familiar habits and customs.
