List of Winners, Fashion, Highlights: 2023 Tencent Video All Star Awards

China's streaming tech giant, Tencent Video, held its annual Tencent All-Star Awarding Ceremony on December 17, 2023, in Macau, the gambling capital in Asia, which is one of China's special administrative regions together with Hong Kong.

The awards are meant to recognize the special achievements of personalities in the Chinese entertainment industry and their respective works streamed on Tencent Video. Tencent has a separate awarding ceremony for stars who topped the popularity list.

Moments and Wonders

This year's Starlight Awards had so many best moments and also surprises and wonders. Such as, where's Xiao Zhan? He is Tencent's biggest male star this year with his two hit dramas breaking popularity index lists.

Why didn't Deng Wei get an award when he was topping the popularity index list during the summer for Lost You Forever?

But the best moment of the night was when Hu Ge came up to the stage and presented the Outstanding Actor of the Year award for his baby brother, Wu Lei! Watching them together in one frame always brings warm memories, we witnessed their brotherly bond evolve through all these years.

Wu Lei's Outstanding Actor Award at 23 years old is also special to Hu Ge. He was 23 years old when he filmed "Young Warriors" in 2005 where Wu Lei, who was then five years old, played his young version in the drama.

But in Young Warriors, Hu Ge and Wu Lei did not share a scene because they played the character Yang Guo in different timelines. They were finally together in the 2015's wuxia sensation, Nirvana in Fire. Wu Lei played Fei Liu, the teen bodyguard of Mei Changsu played by Hu Ge.

This year, they reunited in a movie, Worthy Trip.

Fans wondered why Xiao Zhan did not attend or did not have any accolades? He is Tencent's biggest male star this year with two of his series: The Youth Memories and The Longest Promise as Tencent's biggest hits in 2023.

His characters in these dramas also topped the popularity list behind Cheng Yi's Li Xiangyi and Li Lianhua's Lotus Book characters.

Deng Wei did not have an award?? It's surprising since his role in Lost You Forever is one of this year's popular drama characters.

Another shocking thing was when Hero Legends was not included in Tencent's Most Anticipated Drama for 2024, why??? Hero Legends topped the most anticipated drama list chosen by viewers on Weibo. This is Tencent and CCTV production and one of its biggest series to be aired in 2024.

Hmmm, we suspect that Tencent does not grant awards to recipients who cannot attend the actual ceremony. Xiao Zhan and Deng Wei are currently in film locations of their respective dramas. Both Cheng Yi and Li Yitong, the main leads in Hero Legends, are currently filming also of their new drama, Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Wang Quan. And Cheng Yi had a brand event with Chopard that clashed with the schedule of the Tencent All-Star Awards.

As with many star-studded events, last night's Starlight Awards had some faux pas moments. There were best fashion moments during the event, however, there were also hits and misses when it came to delivering a sense of style, bearing, and poise.

Some of the ladies looked very uncomfortable with their dresses. The design may be "too much" for them, either bigger or heavier.

Rules in fashion always dictate that the wearer must exhibit confidence and a sense of style in the outfits they wear, they should look comfortable without hesitation, poise all the time, show grace and glamour, and give character to the attire.

While most ladies showed confidence and elegance, others simply looked in extreme discomfort, hesitant, and conscious of the outfit they wore.

Zhao Lusi totally lost the glamour and the elegant beauty of her stunning shimmering dress when she forgot to take off her coat as she was called on stage to receive her award.

She stood up from the chair in a hurry, walked fast to the stage, grabbed the trophy, and then ran back to her seat. It was completely unglamorous to look at her in a coat when the dress should have been worn without a cover.

Many C-netizens commented on Weibo that Zhao Lusi looked so excited about receiving the award that she unwittingly committed a fashion blunder by forgetting to take off her coat.

But the biggest faux pas during the event was when NiNi and Zhou Yutong walked in the red carpet in the same dress from Russian designer, Ulyana Sergeenko. OMG!
